Specifications Technologist

Eye, Suffolk

£32,416 per year

Monday to Friday 40 hours per week

C&K Meats is an award-winning British pork producer, proudly part of CPC Foods Group and Premium Food Group. Based in Eye, Suffolk, we produce quality British pork products for customers across the UK and international markets.

Operating to recognised standards including BRCGS, Red Tractor and RSPCA Assured, food safety, legality, quality and animal welfare are central to how we operate.

We are looking for a Specifications Technologist to join our technical team. This isn't a desk-only specifications role. You'll combine technical systems and specification management with time in our production areas, developing a practical understanding of our products and processes from slaughter through cutting, butchery and packing.

What you'll be doing:

  • Create, review and maintain accurate customer and product specifications.

  • Manage customer specification systems and technical portals.

  • Review product artwork, labels and pack copy for accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure product, specification and packaging information complies with UK food legislation, customer requirements and site standards, with claims supported by appropriate evidence.

  • Work with production, commercial and other teams to obtain, verify and challenge product information.

  • Maintain accurate product, supplier, packaging and controlled technical information.

  • Support customer questionnaires, technical queries, due diligence and traceability requests.

  • Support customer visits, audits and technical investigations.

  • Spend time throughout the factory building your knowledge of our products, pork cuts and manufacturing processes.

  • Support the technical services manager and wider technical team in maintaining food safety, legality and quality standards and improving our technical systems.

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Experience within food manufacturing in a technical, specifications, quality assurance or similar role.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Confidence working with technical information and managing competing priorities.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to question information when something doesn't look right.

  • A practical approach and willingness to work within factory environments, including slaughter and butchery areas.

Desirable:

  • Experience with customer or retailer specification systems and technical portals.

  • Knowledge of UK food labelling requirements, HACCP and food safety.

  • Experience of artwork or label approval.

  • Knowledge of meat manufacturing, pork cuts or butchery.

  • Experience supporting audits, traceability exercises or customer visits.

You'll enjoy this role if...

  • You notice the detail others can miss and take pride in getting information right.

  • You're equally comfortable at a computer and on the factory floor.

  • You want to understand why information appears in a specification, rather than simply transferring data between systems.

  • You're naturally curious, prepared to ask questions and enjoy working with different teams to get the right answer.

  • You want broader technical experience and the opportunity to understand a product from slaughter through to the finished pack.

What's in it for you?

  • £32,416 salary.

  • 33 days' holiday, including bank holidays, with the option to purchase five additional days.

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

  • GroceryAid support.

  • Colleague discounts through our Benefits and Recognition Hub.

  • Career development with broad exposure to specifications, labelling, customer requirements, audits, traceability and end-to-end pork production.

If you're looking for a technical role where you can understand the product as well as the paperwork, we'd like to hear from you.
